Strolz Leuchten is a crafts business in the Bregenzerwald region of Vorarlberg. With proudness we carry on the arts and crafts tradition that has characterized our region for centuries. Together with designers, architects and artists, long-lasting and shapely luminaires are created. Trademarks of our lighting manufactory are lampshades. We are fascinated by the variety of possibilities to enrich spaces with accents and atmosphere. Our company is a member of the Werkraum Bregenzerwald, because we are convinced that cohesion is an essential source of strength for all of us and will ultimately secure the future of the tradition of craftsmanship of the Bregenzerwald.

Store and workshop at Dornbirn
In the heart of Dornbirn’s city center, Strolz Leuchten presents its new store at Marktstraße 43 – a place where craftsmanship has always had a home. After eleven years on Römerstraße in Bregenz, we have relocated – but our passion for light, design, and fine craftsmanship remains unchanged.
Across 136 m², we showcase our full range of handcrafted luminaires. The building’s architecture was designed in 2003 by Antonella Rupp – clearly structured, full of character, and attuned to the subtle qualities of spatial experience.
Marktstraße 43 is located in one of Dornbirn’s historic districts, once known as the “Vorstadt” The original building on this site was constructed in 1843 by the joiner J. Zumtobel. In the decades that followed, it housed a variety of skilled trades: coppersmiths, shoemakers, goldsmiths – all of them contributing to the character of the street. In 2003, the old building was taken down, making way for the new structure that now continues this tradition of craftsmanship with us.
Together with regional artisans, we have created spaces where traditional handcraft meets contemporary design. In our open workshop, we welcome visitors to watch as we craft our lampshades – because craftsmanship deserves to be seen.
The Designer
The shape of the lights is often developed through cooperation with international designers. Together with designers, architects and artists, unique products are created. As a lighting manufacturer Strolz accompanies every design from the idea to the last detail and is responsible for the coordination of the development and the implementation.
Anna Claudia Strolz
Anna Claudia Strolz comes from a Bregenzerwald craftsman family. She grew up with lights through her parents' electrical services business. In 2012, she founded her own lighting manufacturer, with which she wants to put the proven lampshade back in a better light. Since 2011, Anna Claudia Strolz is also managing director of the Angelika Kauffmann society. This society runs a museum in Angelika Kauffmanns father's native village, Schwarzenberg for the famous artist.

MATTEO THUN
Founder Matteo Thun & Partners
The Milan-based architect was born and raised in South Tyrol, Italy.
After studying with Oskar Kokoschka and at the University of Architecture in Florence, he founded in 1981 with Ettore Sottsass the "Memphis" group. In 1984 he opened his own architecture and design studio in Milan. In 2001 he founds Matteo Thun + Partners.

The Spanish designer Antonio Rodriguez has been a partner of Matteo Thun since 2003. Together they set up a company for architecture, interior, styling and product design with offices in Milan and Shanghai, with Italian creativity to design and expand specifically Asian projects. The constant search for simplicity and functionality characterize the products of Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez. They develop timeless and iconic design, distancing themselves from purely visual or zeitgeisty shapes. The undisputed competence in product and interior design is based on the close dialogue with the expert teams on the customer side, always striving for innovative solutions.

Born in Bregenz in Austria, the Benger daughter left her hometown at the age of 17 to study visual and graphic design in Innsbruck and Milan. In the early 1980s, she got to know her future husband Matteo Thun through the Memphis group. The two founded their design and architecture studio in Milan in 1984. Susanne Thun is the source of inspiration and source of inspiration for different teams in the areas of interior and product design.
Marc Hoffenscher
The Vorarlberg architect Marc Hoffenscher studied with Wolf D. Prix at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London and has been operating his office in Dornbirn since 2005.

Werkraum Bregenzerwald, Andelsbuch
Uncompromising quality results from cooperation with the best of the respective trade. That's not the only reason why Strolz Leuchten is a member of the Werkraum Bregenzerwald. What counts in this merger is the well thought-out and shapely product, executed in high quality craftsmanship, made for everyday use. The Werkraum Bregenzerwald unites more than 90 craft and commercial enterprises from the alpine valley. The Werkraum house in Andelsbuch - meeting place and showcase for craft culture - was planned by the renowned architect Peter Zumthor and built by the Werkraum craftsmen. Also here Strolz is represented again and again with the latest lamps. In the shop our accessories are available.
